Framework Programme 5 Turkey Gait Disorders Roslin Institute Workpackages

The workpackages of the Turkey Gait Disorders project to be conducted at the Roslin Institute are jointly funded by EC and MAFF. These workpackages have the following aims:

to quantitatively and descriptively characterise turkey gait with reference to age, growth rate and body shape in six different turkey strains using a pedobarograph to determine normal ranges for musculoskeketal parameters in these six turkey strains to establish relationships between gait and musculoskeletal parameters to quantify the effects of clinical lameness on gait parameters in commercial turkey flocks to determine the role of pain in altered gait
