The Compton Cross was established by Nat Bumstead and Jan Palyga at the Institute for Animal Health in the UK. Typing is carried out on backcross progeny resulting from the cross between two inbred lines of White Leghorn chicken. The pedigree information is detailed below.
Briefly, an F1 hen was produced by mating a line 15I cockerel to a line N hen; the F1 hen was then mated to a single line 15I cockerel in the backcross to produce progeny for segregation analysis.
